The SCRCA’s soil health conference returns in-person for the first time since 2020 with Phosphorus: The Balancing Act, where farmers, researchers, and agronomists will provide tips, tools, and knowledge for building soil health that can be incorporated into their own farming systems.

The Agenda is jam-packed from 8 am-5 pm of informative presentations, time for networking and catching up, and meeting new farmers, researchers, and ag-industry professionals! Guest speakers include Dale Cowan (Agris Co-op), Lori Phillips (AACF), Aaron Breimer (CCA, Moose-Ag), and a panel discussion with Ontario Soil Network Farmers, among many others!
Jill Clapperton, PhD, Principal Scientist, President, Rhizoterra Inc.

Jill Clapperton is an internationally recognized speaker and educator on soil health, and how to make the transition to healthy soil. She has a PhD in plant ecophysiology, studying the biochemistry of plant mycorrhizal interactions. Jill worked for 16 years as the Rhizosphere Ecologist at the Ag Canada, Lethbridge Research Centre in Lethbridge, AB, Canada, before moving to the USA and starting her own consulting company- Rhizoterra Inc. With a strong interest in food security and sovereignty, Jill had started working with NuLeaf Farms (system design and AI-based automation for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA)), developing grow recipes for leafy greens, fruits, vegetables, and medicinal and ceremonial plants.
“I have worked all over the world in large-scale organic and conventional fruit and vegetable production, dryland and irrigated grain cropping, and vineyards. My current project is trying to grow soil-building, nutritious forage crops to supplement grassfed cattle in south central Kansas,” Jill shares.
Jill consults with individual farmers, corporations, and agencies, and conducts workshops that offer practical knowledge and understanding of what characterizes healthy soil, the practices that foster soil health, and how to measure success using simple and easy tools. Most importantly, we always have fun while learning.
